Dyson X and Joi X: From Best Friends to Soulmates: A 31-Year Separation Couldn’t Break Their Bond

Dyson and Joi’s story didn’t begin with romance - it began with laughter, basketball games, and childhood dreams. Growing up side by side in Ypsilanti, MI, they were best friends long before they ever knew the strength of the bond they’d share.
Unexpectedly life took a hard turn. Dyson X was sentenced to a life sentence in prison as a young man. While time stood still for him, Joi was building a thriving career as a top-tier real estate agent (Joi Taylor Exp Reality) and a creative purse and bag designer (Joi Taylor Collection.)
Through the years they kept in touch - letters, phone calls, visits, memories, and hopes whispered through pages. While Joi was building a career, so was Dyson. Both became registered Muslims in the Nation of Islam, and Dyson discovered his ability to write. He penned several books under Dr. Dyson X. Slater, all which can be purchased through Amazon. As we plan, people plan, Allah (God), is the Best of Planners. Early this month, Dyson was granted his freedom. And when he walked free out of Saginaw Correctional Facility, it was his wife, Joi who met him on the outside. That shows a true love story that grew from Best friends to soulmates.
Their love story reignited with purpose. Today, they stand side by side - not just as husband and wife - and not just building a business, they're building a legacy. While proving that redemption, faith and loyalty is real.
