The son of comedian Rickey Smiley passed away over the weekend without any suspicion of foul play.
A friend discovered 32-year-old Brandon Jamaad Smiley unconscious inside his home, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. A friend found Brandon in the 2300 block of 31st Ave. North at 10:07 a.m. on Sunday.
After being brought to UAB Hospital, Brandon Smiley was declared dead at 10:52 a.m.
According to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, an autopsy performed early on Monday revealed no signs of trauma or malice, and the cause of death is still under investigation.
